DC Studios has paused production on The Batman: Part 2, which is currently filming in London. Director Matt Reeves has to step away to focus on "a family matter". You can read the full statement below.
"Production on The Batman Part II has been temporarily paused while Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter. Matt has the full support of DC Studios and we look forward to continuing the journey soon."
Deadline says that it's too early to tell if the production stoppage will have an effect on the release date. The movie was recently delayed from October 1, 2027 to February 18, 2028.
Back in 2020, The Batman had to pause production due to COVID.

Why only temporary? Let's just cancel it and move on with our lives.
Or do the funniest thing ever and hire Zack Snyder to finish it.
LethargicJ ha, I know you weren't a fan of the first movie, but this one is way too far along to cancel. They've been shooting for 5 months, they wouldn't just throw all that money away.
I do wonder if they'll have to bring in another director to finish it though. They have about 2 more months to go. My pick? Reeves' co-writer Mattson Tomlin. He has directing experience and knows the material since he wrote it.
Chris I dunno. That would be a huge tax write off. LOL
Tomlin is my hope for the sequel. I have no idea who he is or what's he done but I know he didn't write any of the first one.
Dang, that's unfortunate. I hope this is not another JL situation and they let him finish the movie when he can resume it. Let's hope it's nothing too serious for him.
As for the movie, so many delays would affect it in the end. So many years after the first movie, although I liked it, won't be any good for its hype, people would've moved on. In fact, I'd say The Batman is already not so ingrained in the collective audience
Chris They could get help from The Penguin team, that was a superb series, and I even liked it more than the movie!
