The upcoming animated movie Dynamic Duo got a new release date and voice cast last week but fans have been wondering if the movie will be part of James Gunn's DCU. According to Logan Kim, who is voicing Jason Todd in the movie, the answer is "no".
On Instagram there was a post that said "Dynamic Duo will reportedly be canon to the DCU", and that's where Kim replied with a simple "no":
Dynamic Duo was announced back in October 2024, and is a mixed media movie that will tell the origin story of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd as Robins. It's a collaboration between Matt Reeves' 6th & Idaho and Swaybox, a new animation house from New Orleans that is using a technology that mixes elements of CGI animation, stop-motion, and live-action real-time performance.
I thought everything was going to be canon? Movies, series, videogames... They are moving away from the original plans more and more...
jrvc yeah seems like they got too ambitious. Half of the movies/TV shows that Gunn announced aren't happening either.
Chris yep, since the beginning the chewed more than they could swallow, even if when Gunn said they wouldn't be announcing projects that weren't going to be 100% happening to avoid errors from the past!
Anyway, who thought tying videogames to all this was a good idea?
jrvc yep I agree! It's going to be interesting to see what Paramount does
The further along we get, the more and more Gunn's first announcement of the DCU, with all the projects and everything being connected, looks more and more like a F'N clown show, a lie, and that he should just STFU.
